ADRSK - National Introductory Mediation Course

This course is divided into two parts.
Part 1: May 15 - 17, 2024, and
Part 2: June 12 - 14, 2024

A comprehensive 40 hour program which aims to prepare learners to effectively facilitate the Understanding-Based Approach to resolving disputes.

LEARNERS WILL:

  • Develop a clear understanding of their own perceptions, biases, and attitudes and how they impact others in conflict resolution.
  • Learn the dynamics of conflict and the challenges of entering into negotiations.
  • Learn tools for active listening, effective communicating, and managing power imbalance and heightened emotion in individuals in conflict.
  • Learn the six phases of the Understanding-Based Approach to assist parties in reaching creative, mutually satisfactory resolutions.
  • Participate in role plays to practice new conflict resolution skills and techniques

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CREDITS


DRAFT SCHEDULE
3 full days of instruction, followed by another 2 full days of instruction, and a final day of testing/evaluation.

This Course satisfies the Full Member criteria for an ADR Institute-approved 40 hour course in mediation, thereby providing graduates with access to membership in the ADR Institute of Canada. It also provides the basic training component for the ADR Canada Qualified Mediator (Q.Med)  designation.  Additional criteria apply.


OUR INSTRUCTOR




Tim Nickel, M.Ed., C.Med., Reg. Psych is a private mediator, organizational consultant, facilitator, and trainer based out of Saskatoon.  As a mediator, Tim helps resolve all kinds of disputes including Civil Litigation, High Conflict families, Workplace Disputes, Collective Bargaining Agreements and Labour Negotiations, and has worked as a mediator or facilitator for a wide range of clients in private, non-profit, public service, and First Nations organizations.  His expertise spans from workgroups and high performance teams to construction contracts to multi-stage multi-stakeholder collaborative processes.  As an Organizational Consultant, Tim facilitates strategic thinking, conducts workplace assessments, coaches managers and employees, and advises on organizational change initiatives.  Throughout his career, he has trained thousands of people in mediation and conflict resolution.

Members:          $2,895 plus GST
Non-Members:  $2,995 plus GST

CANCELLATION POLICY
Request for cancellation must be received in writing to [email protected]. Requests received on or prior to April 15, 2024 receive a full refund less a $100 administration fee; between April 16 and May 7, 2024, receive a full refund less a $200 administration fee; on or after May 8, 2024, receive a full refund less a $750 administration fee.
